Why October? Well it is statistically the best time of year for wind in the bay of plenty. Westerly winds are predominant and at this time of year regularly blow well in excess of forecast. Combine this with warmer air and water temps, daylight saving being well underway and... its a long Weekend with Labour day falling on the 24th. With all this in mind We we are off to a good start.
Our Aim is to make this a Fun well organised event for competitors and spectators alike and in doing so raise awareness of the sport for its growth and raising the profile of all our sponsors.
The competition is open to all New zealanders and New zealand Residents. Pre registration is required with payment of the entry fee of $120.00 by no later than the 6th of October(2 weeks prior) only. This will insure time to organise and plan the event schedule and draws.

The Monster Community Garage Sale was a huge success. A grand total of $2,724.70 was raised. Most items for sale were donated by the community. Proceeds were used to benefit all the clubs tenanting the Fergusson park clubhouse, e.g. Guides, Brownies, Scouts, Cubs, Cricket, Soccer, Astronomy, Marching, ... and WindAddiction, paid towards clubhouse operating expenses, such as building insurances, rent to the city council, water, rates, electricity, waste disposal,...etc. This fund-raising effort should help us to avoid an increase to our subs in future, especially if we commit to making it a yearly event.
Huge thanks to Carolyn & Rob Port for organizing this monster sale! Thanks also to those club members who donated items, assisted with pricing, sales or went along and supported on the day!
Great effort everyone! Cheers! ![]()
